There is no metro or tram; the national bus network and a lot of walking cover the capital, with buses needed for anywhere up the valley.

The capital is short enough to walk end to end in about 30 minutes along the valley floor. Barri Antic (old town) sits at the western end, Avinguda Meritxell is the shopping spine running east, and Escaldes-Engordany, with the Caldea spa, continues east again with no real break between the two towns.
