The Western Galilee is a 40 km coastal strip between Haifa and the Lebanon border, backed by 5–10 km of plain before the hills start. It is not a place you tour hotel-to-hotel: the train line runs Haifa–Akko–Nahariyya, and everything worth seeing sits within about 30 minutes of those two towns. Sleep in Akko for the old city, in Nahariyya for the beach and the northern sights. Two nights covers it; one night is a rushed but workable stop between Haifa and the Upper Galilee.
