Best day trips from Victoria: how to get there and what to see

Victoria sits on Mahé's east coast, so most day trips run north-west along the coast, up into the hills, or out to sea. Distances are short but roads are slow: a 20 km drive can take 40 minutes.

Beau Vallon is the simplest day out: a long curved bay on the north-west coast with calm swimming in the sheltered season and lifeguard cover in places. Buses run from Victoria through the day; taxis are quicker and cost more. Food stalls and small restaurants line the beach road.

Morne Seychellois National Park covers the hills behind Victoria. Trails such as the route towards Anse Major or the Copolia and Trois Frères paths give rainforest, granite and coastal views. Start early, take water and expect humid afternoons. Some trailheads need a car or taxi.

Sainte Anne Marine Park lies just off Victoria. Boats leave from the harbour area for snorkelling, glass-bottom viewing and small island stops. Trips are weather-dependent, so confirm the day before.
