Uman is a small city in Central Ukraine, 210 km south of Kyiv, built around one genuinely big sight: Sofiyivka, a late-18th-century landscaped arboretum that is one of the country's best-known parks. The rest is a compact historic centre plus the Breslov Hasidic pilgrimage grave of Rabbi Nachman, which fills the town around Rosh Hashanah. Most travellers come for the park, stay one night, and move on.

The centre and Sofiyivka are walkable. City buses run 14 routes; a single ride is 12 грн (2026 estimate). Taxis are cheap and the easiest way to reach the bus station with bags; OnTaxi and Shark are the common apps.
