Cherkasy is a Dnipro River city and oblast capital on the high right bank, mid-way between Kyiv and Kremenchuk. It is a Cossack-history town with a compact 19th-century centre, a memorial hill over the Kremenchuk Reservoir, and a strong museum row. Most travellers pass through on the Kyiv–Uman road or stop one night; the draw is the river view and the Shevchenko country around Kaniv.

Getting around

Buses and trolleybuses cover the centre and the stations; single rides are cheap (2026 estimate). Taxis via Bolt, Uklon or Uber are the easy option for short hops. The centre is walkable between Khreshchatyk, the Hill of Glory and the embankment.
