Ubud runs along Jalan Raya Ubud (east–west) and Jalan Monkey Forest (north–south). The palace, market and Saraswati Temple sit at the crossroads; Campuhan and Penestanan lie 1.5–2 km west; the Monkey Forest is 1.5 km south; Peliatan is 3 km south-east. Distances look short and take twice as long in traffic.
