Twante
A half-day trip from Yangon for pottery and a quiet pagoda: go for the morning, back by lunch. Not worth a night.
Twante is a small delta town 40 minutes from Yangon via ferry and pickup truck. Its draw is the Shwesandaw Pagoda (a scaled-down Shwedagon without the crowds) and the Oh-Bo pottery sheds where you can watch terracotta being made and buy it direct. The trip is bumpy and the town has little else; most visitors return the same day.
