Before you go

What the guide flags for families.

  • Taipei is easy with children: clean toilets and nursing rooms in MRT stations and department stores, priority seats on the MRT, and food that kids like (dumplings, noodles, tea, sweet potato). The MRT is free for children under 6 and half price for older kids with a child EasyCard. (Kids)
  • Strollers work on the MRT and in malls but not on the narrow pavements of older streets; carry a light, folding one and a carrier. (Kids)
  • Free or cheap stops: Da’an Forest Park playground, the Taipei Children’s Amusement Park, the Museum of Drinking Water and the Taipei Zoo with its panda house (check hours; the zoo is closed on some Mondays). (Kids)
