How much does a trip to Seychelles cost? Daily budget and prices

Seychelles is one of Africa's most expensive destinations, but the gap between tiers is wide. The table below is per person per day, sharing a room at mid-range and comfort, with flights excluded. It is a 2026 estimate.

The budget line assumes a self-catering guesthouse, food from takeaways and small shops, buses on Mahé and Praslin, and a bicycle on La Digue. Mid-range adds a small hotel, restaurant meals, a hire car for a few days and inter-island ferries. Comfort means a 5★ resort or private island, boat days and domestic flights.

Small purchases are where the rupee matters. Takeaways, buses and bicycle hire are cheap by European standards; hotels, restaurant dinners and boat trips are not. Larger hotels add a sustainability levy to the bill, so the room rate you see is not always the final number.

Ferry and entry prices move with the season and the operator, so treat the figures below as a planning band and confirm before you book.

Beds are the biggest single line. A self-catering guesthouse on Mahé or La Digue can cost a fraction of a resort villa, and cooking one or two meals a day cuts the food bill sharply. Restaurant dinners, especially at hotel restaurants, are the second big cost.

Transport is the third. Island-hopping ferries are the main extra beyond the room: a return Mahé–Praslin crossing is a real line in the budget, and adding Praslin–La Digue pushes it higher. On Mahé a hire car is useful for beaches but a bus pass is far cheaper; on La Digue a bicycle covers almost everything.

Sights are modest by comparison. Park and estate entries are small one-off payments; boat trips, diving and guided days are the expensive optional extras.

The currency is the Seychelles rupee (SCR). Cards are accepted at hotels, most restaurants and larger shops, but small shops, buses and bicycle hire usually want cash. Carry a modest amount of rupees and withdraw from ATMs in Victoria or at the airport rather than changing large sums at once.

Prices in this page are in euros because that is how most international bookings are quoted, but you will pay in rupees on the ground. Budget a little extra for the sustainability levy at larger hotels, which is added to the bill.

Choose one or two islands instead of three. Ferry crossings and extra beds add up fast, and Mahé plus one other island covers the classic beaches and the Vallée de Mai. Stay in self-catering guesthouses, eat takeaways and market food, and use buses where they run.

Travel in the shoulder months if you can. Accommodation rates and ferry demand are lower outside the peak, and the weather is still workable. Book ferries and popular guesthouses ahead so you are not forced into the expensive last rooms.
