San Juan La Laguna is a small Maya village on the west shore of Lake Atitlán, about 2 km from San Pedro la Laguna and reachable by lancha from Panajachel if you ask the boatman to stop at the San Juan dock. It is quieter than San Pedro and San Marcos, with weaving and chocolate cooperatives, a church, and a short climb to a lake mirador. Two nights covers the village and one hike; three nights adds a boat day to another shore town.

The village is small enough to walk end to end in about 10 minutes. Tuk-tuks cover the San Juan–San Pedro run (about Q15) and the road out towards San Pablo. Lanchas link the dock with Panajachel and other shore towns; ask the boatman before boarding if San Juan is a stop.

Safety
- Only three ATMs in town (two 5B, one BI in Super 24 north of town) and they run out of cash: withdraw early in the day.
- Lancha fares and schedules change with weather and demand: confirm the return boat before you leave the dock.
- Afternoon rain May–Oct can cancel boat crossings; keep a buffer before any onward shuttle.
- The mirador and La Nariz del Indio trails are unlit and slippery after rain: start in the morning.
