The Region of Waterloo is three cities and four townships packed into about 30 km: Kitchener and Waterloo are joined by the ION light rail, Cambridge sits 20–30 minutes south, and the Mennonite farm country around St. Jacobs and Elmira starts just north of Waterloo. Sleep in Kitchener or Waterloo if you want transit and restaurants; sleep in Cambridge or the townships only if you have a car. Two nights covers the cities and one market day; three nights lets you add Cambridge and a countryside stop without rushing.
