Clewiston sits on the west shore of Lake Okeechobee, about 2 h from Miami and 1.5 h from Fort Myers. It is a sugar town and a fishing town: the draw is the lake itself, the small museum and the historic 1920s inn, not a sightseeing list. Most travellers pass through on US-27; anglers and snowbirds stay. One night covers it, two if you fish.

A car is effectively required: sights, the lake shore and the highway strip are spread over a few km with no useful bus. US-27 runs through town as Sugarland Hwy and merges with FL-80. Greyhound and FlixBus stop at the Walmart lot on W Sugarland Hwy, connecting Tampa and Miami via the lake towns.
