Spend a half‑day in Qurghonteppa to see the regional museum and nearby spring; one night if you want a relaxed stay.

Qurghonteppa (Bokhtar) is the capital of Khatlon region, with a modest airport and railway. Its main attractions are the Museum of Historical and Regional Studies and nearby Sacred Spring Chiluchor Chashma. The town is small enough for a half‑day visit, but a night allows a relaxed pace and easy access to the spring outside town.

  • Central Asia ↗Keep every hotel registration slip or its e-registration record until you leave Uzbekistan and Tajikistan; border officers can ask for proof of where you slept and fine gaps.
  • Central Asia ↗Land borders between Central Asian states open and shut with politics and demarcation deals; confirm the exact post is open to foreigners the week you cross.
  • Tajikistan ↗Check entry rules on the official e-visa portal only; many nationalities need an e-visa, and the Gorno-Badakhshan (Pamir) region needs an extra permit.
  • Tajikistan ↗Carry Tajik somoni in small notes; markets, taxis and tea houses are cash-first, and cards work mainly in hotels and larger shops in Dushanbe.
  • Tajikistan ↗Land borders, including those with Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, have been closed or restricted at times: confirm the current status before you plan an overland leg.
