Rules in force · 8Non-EU visitors get 90 days in any rolling 180-day window…
  • Europe ↗Non-EU visitors get 90 days in any rolling 180-day window, counted across all 29 Schengen states together — not per country; the Entry/Exit System now logs each crossing, so an overstay is detected automatically.
  • Europe ↗On the first Schengen entry since EES began, non-EU travellers give four fingerprints and a face photo at the border instead of a passport stamp; there is nothing to apply for or pay in advance.
  • Italy and Malta ↗The region's headline sights run on timed tickets that sell out: book the Vatican Museums, the Colosseum, the Uffizi, the Last Supper and Malta's Hypogeum before you fix train and hotel dates.
  • Italy and Malta ↗Budget for per-night city taxes in Italy (up to about €10 a person in Rome), Malta's per-night environmental contribution, and Venice's day-visitor fee on peak days; none are included in most online room prices.
  • Italy ↗Italy is in the Schengen area. Check the entry rules for your passport on official sources; the EU's Entry/Exit System registers non-EU visitors at the first Schengen border, and further pre-travel authorisation rules are being introduced.
  • Italy ↗Historic centres are ZTL limited-traffic zones: cameras fine any unauthorised car that enters, often months later through the hire company. Park outside and walk in.
  • Italy ↗Regional train tickets bought on paper must be validated in the machine on the platform before boarding; digital tickets carry a time and need no stamping.
  • Italy ↗Venice charges day-visitors an access fee on selected peak days; check the city's official site if you are not sleeping there.

Jesolo is a flat, 15 km strip of beach hotels, pizzerias and shops on the Veneto coast, about 45 km from Venice. It is a resort first and a sightseeing town second: the sand, the water park and the easy bus link to Punta Sabbioni and the lagoon islands are the reasons to come. Families and beach-first travellers do well here; anyone whose trip is about Venice should sleep in Venice or Mestre instead.

Arrive & move

Airports are listed under At a glance; this is how to move once you are in

Getting around

Two ATVO bus lines cover the strip: bus 3 runs west from Piazza Marconi-Drago to Piazza del Faro, bus 2 runs east to Cortellazzo, each about 20 min end to end and every 20 min in Jul–Aug. Buy tickets at the ATVO counter at the bus station or at tobacconists and newsagents before boarding; tickets are not sold on the bus and must be validated. A bike is a good alternative on the flat seafront.

Which area to sleep in

Where to sleep

Areas, not hotels: pick the one that fits your arrival time and plans.

Piazza Brescia / Piazza Drago (Lido di Jesolo centre)

Bus station, shops, restaurants and the aquarium within walking distance; best for a car-free stay.

Piazza Nember and Piazza Aurora

Quieter western stretch, still on the beach; bus 3 runs along Via Bafile to the centre.

Cortellazzo and Jesolo Pineta

Eastern end near the mouth of the Piave; calmer, more driving needed, some good fish restaurants.

Watch out

Safety

A low-risk family resort. The real issues are summer sun and sea, beach theft from unattended bags, and traffic on Via Bafile: use crossings, and keep valuables out of sight on the sand.
  • Tickets are not sold on board; buy ahead at the ATVO counter or a tabaccheria and validate on entry.
  • Many hotels, beach bars and restaurants close from October to Easter; check before booking a shoulder-season trip.
  • Beach concessions (umbrella plus sunbeds) are usually paid and often tied to your hotel; ask what is included.
  • The Venice bus-and-boat link runs May–Sep only; outside that window you go via Mestre or San Donà di Piave.
