Scicli is a small baroque town in a valley in the Iblei hills, part of the UNESCO Val di Noto listing, 10 km from the coast at Donnalucata, Sampieri and Cava d'Aliga. It was rebuilt after the 1693 earthquake, and its sights sit within a 3 km walk on steep lanes. Most travellers see it as a half-day stop between Modica and Ragusa, or sleep one night to add a beach afternoon.
