Amlapura
Spend a half‑day in Amlapura to see the water palace and beach, then head to nearby Tirta Gangga or Candidasa; one night if you want a quiet beachfront stay.
Amlapura is the administrative centre of Karangasem Regency on Bali’s east coast. Its main attractions – Taman Ujung water palace, Puri Agung Karangasem and Pantai Ujung – are close together and can be visited in a few hours. Most travellers use it as a base for a day trip to Tirta Gangga or Candidasa, so one night is enough unless you prefer a beachfront resort.
