Wetaskiwin is a city of about 12,700 people 70 km south of Edmonton. Its main draw is the Reynolds-Alberta Museum, a large collection of cars, aircraft, tractors and industrial machines. The district heritage museum, the Peace Cairn, the rail museum east of town and the stock-car oval fill the rest of a day. Most travellers pass through on the Edmonton–Red Deer corridor; one night lets you see the museum without rushing.

Getting around
A car is effectively required. The Reynolds-Alberta Museum and the highway motels are 3–4 km apart, the rail museum is out on range roads, and local transit is limited. Edmonton is about 70 km north: Highway 2A runs south of Leduc, while Highway 2 is roughly 19 km west of the city — check which route your map sends you on. Red Deer is about 90 km south. Parking is free almost everywhere.
