Kent is a rural district of about 6,000 people on the north bank of the Fraser, made up of Agassiz, Harrison Mills, Ruby Creek and the Harrison Lake shore. Agassiz is the commercial centre and the only walkable town. Sights are spread along Highway 7 and Highway 9, so a car decides whether Kent is a stop or a base.

Getting around
A car is the practical answer: the district runs from the Fraser River to the foot of Mount Woodside and bus service is thin. BC Transit's Agassiz–Harrison system runs route 71 between Chilliwack and Harrison Hot Springs through Agassiz (Mon–Fri, some Saturday trips, plus Sundays in July–early September) and route 72 between Hope and Agassiz (Mon–Sat). The valley floor is flat and good for cycling. In Agassiz, park on Pioneer Avenue and walk.

- Bus service is weekday-heavy and thin on weekends: check the current timetable before relying on it.
- Kilby Historic Site and Kilby Park Campground are seasonal; hours and opening dates change each year, so check before driving out.
- The nearest hospital is in Chilliwack, about 25–30 min by car.
- Winter driving on Highway 7 and Highway 9 can mean rain, fog and occasional snow; Sasquatch Mountain access road conditions vary.
- Rural roads have no lighting and wildlife (deer, bears) crosses at dusk.
