Shikokuchuo四国中央
Skip unless you have a specific reason (paper museum, castle ruins, or crossing Shikoku by car). Half a day covers the main sights; no need to stay overnight.
Shikokuchuo is a small industrial city at the eastern edge of Ehime, where all four Shikoku prefectures meet. Its main draws are the ruins of Kawanoe Castle, a paper-making museum, and a few old houses. Most travellers pass through on the way to Niihama, Saijo or Imabari. Half a day is enough unless you are a paper-craft enthusiast.

Getting around
The city is spread out. JR Yosan Line trains connect the main stations (Kawanoe, Iyo-Mishima). Local buses are infrequent; a rental car is the most practical option for visiting the castle, museum and Manabe House.

- Paper Town Museum may require a reservation for the paper-making activity; call ahead or check the Japanese-only site.
- Buses run on a sparse schedule; check times in advance or plan to walk between nearby sights.
