Wuhu is a Yangtze port city of about 3.6 million in Anhui, 40 minutes by high-speed rail from Nanjing and roughly 2.5 hours from Shanghai. The centre is small: Mirror Lake, Mount Zhe and the riverside park are free and walkable, and the food street is the real reason to stop. Most travellers use it as a half-day or one-night break on the Nanjing–Hefei line rather than a destination.
