Oegstgeest is a green, low-rise town on Leiden's north-west edge, 3 km from Leiden Centraal and 8 km from the Katwijk beach. It has one headline attraction, CORPUS, four hotels and a handful of restaurants. Most travellers see it as a Leiden annex: cheaper beds, free parking, quiet nights, and the same bus corridor into the old city. Come for a half-day, or use it as a sleep base if you are driving the Bollenstreek.

- CORPUS is by timed reservation only; walk-up entry is not guaranteed.
- Buses thin out in the evening; check the last departure back from Leiden.
- Parking in central Leiden is expensive and scarce — leave the car at the hotel.
- The A44/N206 junction area is car country: pavements and crossings are sparse.
