Oegstgeest is a green, low-rise town on Leiden's north-west edge, 3 km from Leiden Centraal and 8 km from the Katwijk beach. It has one headline attraction, CORPUS, four hotels and a handful of restaurants. Most travellers see it as a Leiden annex: cheaper beds, free parking, quiet nights, and the same bus corridor into the old city. Come for a half-day, or use it as a sleep base if you are driving the Bollenstreek.

Walk or bike for the centre; buses 20, 21, 37 and 50 cover the town, and 57/187 run to Leiden Centraal. Leiden Centraal is the rail hub for the whole region — no station in Oegstgeest itself. A bike is the fastest way to Leiden, Katwijk or the dunes.
