Kizlyar is a quiet town in northern Dagestan, known for its brandy factory, knife-making and Cossack heritage. The main draws are the Kizlyar Brandy Factory, the Museum of Local Lore and the Museum of the Cossacks. Most travellers pass through on the way to or from Chechnya or the Caspian coast.
