Kanuma鹿沼
Kanuma is a half-day stop for the Furumine Shrine and its tengu masks, not a base. Pass through on the way to Nikko or Utsunomiya.
Kanuma, a small city in Tochigi Prefecture, is known for the Furumine Shrine and its collection of over 200 tengu masks. The city is a quiet detour between Nikko and Utsunomiya, best for travellers interested in folklore and mask carving. Most visitors spend 2–3 hours here.
