Sano佐野
Give Sano one night only if you want the outlet mall plus ramen; otherwise ride in from Ashikaga or Tatebayashi on the Ryōmō line and leave the same day.
Sano is a small Tochigi city on the JR Ryōmō and Tōbu Sano lines, about 14 minutes from Ashikaga and 16 from Tochigi. It is known for three things: Sano ramen, the Sano Premium Outlets, and the Yakuyoke Daishi temple that draws crowds at New Year. Sights are spread out and low-key; most travellers use it as a half-day or one-night stop between Ashikaga and Utsunomiya.
