Laukaa is a lakeside municipality of about 19,000 people 24 km north-east of Jyväskylä, on road 637. Its sights are spread across three villages — Laukaa centre, Leppävesi and Lievestuore — and the headline sight, the Saraakallio rock paintings, sits on private land with no parking and no official trail. Come with a car or a bike, or use bus line 41 from Jyväskylä and stay on foot in the centre.

Safety
- Saraakallio paintings are on private land: no parking on Ränssintie and no official trail — view from the water or ask locally.
- Lievestuore railway station has no passenger trains; the nearest working stations are Jyväskylä and Hankasalmi.
- Nokkakivi Amusement Park opens June–August only; check daily hours before travelling.
- The Keitele Canal has 4.8 m bridge clearance: not passable for sailing yachts.
