Machhiwara
Skip unless you are a Sikh history pilgrim: a half-day stop from Ludhiana or Chandigarh for the Gurudwara and museum, then move on.
Machhiwara is a small Punjab town significant for Sikh history: Guru Gobind Singh rested here in 1705. The main draw is Gurudwara Charan Kanwal and its Sikh Religious Museum. There is little else for the general traveller, and the town has no rail link. Most visitors come as a day trip from Ludhiana (about 30 km) or Chandigarh (about 60 km).
