Verbier
Go for 3–5 nights if you ski off-piste or hike; skip if you want gentle groomers or a cheap trip — Verbier is steep, high and expensive.
Verbier sits on a sunny terrace above the Val de Bagnes in Valais, at about 1,500 m, reached by cable car or bus from Le Châble. It is the main gateway to Les 4 Vallées, one of the largest ski areas in Switzerland, with the Mont Fort glacier at the top. Winter is about off-piste skiing and après-ski; summer turns the same lifts into a hiking base. It is not a cheap village and not a beginner's resort.

Getting around
The village is small and walkable, even in ski boots. A free local bus loops the village until early evening; check the timetable if you stay in Le Châble, because the cable car to Verbier runs roughly 08:30–18:30 and the bus runs later. Lifts and buses are the way to move; a car is only useful for arriving and for valley errands.

Watch out
Safety
- Verbier is high and steep: altitude and icy pavements cause more injuries than crime.
- Off-piste skiing is not patrolled or marked; go with a guide and carry avalanche kit.
- Between seasons (roughly May and November) many lifts, hotels and restaurants close.
- Winter road access needs winter tyres and sometimes chains; check conditions before driving up.
- Bars and clubs are expensive and some are cash-first: ask the total before ordering.
