Torre Vado is a seaside hamlet of about 90 residents in the Morciano di Leuca municipality, on the Ionian coast 7 km north of Santa Maria di Leuca. It has no monuments: the draw is a low rocky shore, sandy beaches at Pescoluse nearby, and short boat trips to the Leuca sea caves. It works as a beach base, not a sightseeing stop.

Watch out

Safety

Crime is effectively absent; the real risk is the sea. Watch the rocks near the port, wear sea shoes, and note that the summer emergency room on Corso Venezia runs 15 Jun–15 Sep only.
  • Rocky shore and port rocks are slippery; sea shoes help.
  • Bathing is the main risk — there is no lifeguard cover everywhere.
  • Many hotels, bars and restaurants close outside summer.
  • August is crowded and prices peak.
