Mishawaka is a small Indiana city on the St. Joseph River, joined to South Bend on its west side. Its own draw is thin: a river walk, a Japanese garden, a historic mansion and heavy shopping along Grape Road. Most travellers sleep in South Bend or along the Grape Road strip and use Mishawaka for an afternoon, a meal and the mall.
