Lake Mary
Skip as a sightseeing base: 1 night only if you need a cheap bed near Sanford airport or a SunRail stop between Orlando and Sanford.
Lake Mary is a suburban Seminole County town of about 14,000 people, 25 km north of Orlando on I-4 and on the SunRail commuter line. It has a small walkable downtown with a handful of restaurants, one public golf course and a local history museum. Almost nobody comes here for the town itself: it works as a quiet, cheaper bed near Orlando Sanford International Airport, or as a half-day stop on the way to Sanford's historic riverfront.

- North America ↗Crossing between the US, Canada and Mexico by land needs your passport even on a day trip; rental cars need the company's written permission to cross, and most US and Canadian rental insurance stops at the Mexican border.
- North America ↗Cannabis is legal in Canada and in many US states, but taking any amount across the US, Canadian or Mexican border is a federal crime — including edibles and vapes.
- North America ↗The busiest US and Canadian national parks need timed-entry, campsite or lodge reservations in summer; release dates are months ahead.
- United States ↗Check whether you need an ESTA (Visa Waiver Program) or a visa on the official CBP and State Department sites; apply only through esta.cbp.dhs.gov, not third-party sites, and allow time before you book.
- United States ↗Several popular national parks use timed-entry or vehicle reservations in peak season; check each park's page on nps.gov and book on recreation.gov before fixing your dates.
- United States ↗Medical care is very expensive for visitors; buy travel insurance with high medical cover before you fly.
- United States ↗Tipping is expected: about 15–20% at sit-down restaurants and bars, and a tip for taxis, hotel staff and guides.

Getting around
A car is the practical choice: downtown, the hotels and the golf course are 3–6 km apart with no useful sidewalk network. SunRail runs to Orlando and Sanford on weekdays only, and Lynx Link 45 covers a limited local route. Rideshare works but waits can run 10–20 min outside the centre.

Walkable to restaurants and the museum; very few beds, so book early or stay at the interstate instead.
