The First Coast is northeast Florida: Duval (Jacksonville), St. Johns (St. Augustine), Nassau (Amelia Island), Clay and Flagler counties, all strung along I-95 and the St. Johns River. Two bases cover it — St. Augustine for the colonial core and Jacksonville for the airport, museums and cheapest beds — with Amelia Island as an optional add-on if you want quieter sand. Distances are short: St. Augustine to Jacksonville is about 40 minutes by car, St. Augustine to Amelia Island about an hour.
