Nakhodka is a working port in Primorsky Krai, about 4 hours by bus from Vladivostok, spread along more than 40 km of harbour. It has a museum, a cathedral, a few viewpoints and a wild beach, but no sight that justifies a long detour. Most travellers pass through for the ferry, the port or a night between Vladivostok and the east.

The city runs along the harbour for over 40 km, so walking covers only the centre. Buses and taxis do the rest; taxis are often charged by time blocks (about 200 RUB for 15 min).

Watch out

Safety

Nakhodka is a working port city and feels ordinary by day. The real issues are long dark streets between districts, unlit waterfront paths and winter ice: keep to the centre after dark and use taxis at night.
  • Distances along the bay are long: check the address before you book, or you will pay for taxis.
  • Some viewpoints and memorials are unkempt, with litter and broken paving.
  • Ferry and long-distance train schedules change by season: confirm before you commit.
