Give Pargas one night as a stop on the Archipelago Trail: old town, church and quarry in half a day, then push on to Nagu or Korpo.
Pargas (Parainen in Finnish) is the only real town in the Archipelago Sea, about 25 km from Turku by road on regional road 180. It is bilingual Swedish and Finnish, and English works nearly everywhere. The centre is small and walkable: a wooden old town, a medieval church, a working limestone quarry you can view from a marked spot, and a handful of museums. Most travellers use it as the first overnight on the Archipelago Trail before the ferries to Nagu and Korpo. Two nights is enough to see the town and one nearby beach or golf course; one night is enough if you are moving on.

Getting around
The centre is small enough to walk: Strandvägen runs along the Kyrksundet sound from the roundabout to the marina, with the pedestrian street Köpmansgatan nearby and the old town across the sound. For anything outside town you need a bike, car or taxi; buses and coaches from Turku can be used along their routes. Bikes are for rent at Hotel Kalkstrand, Café Hallonblad and Solliden Camping, and a free cycling map covers about 12 km of local routes.
