Roeselare
Give Roeselare one night at most: the belfry, St Michael's tower and the KOERS cycling museum fill a half-day, and it works best as a rail stop between Bruges and Kortrijk.
Roeselare is a working West Flanders town, not a postcard: its draw is the UNESCO belfry on the Grote Markt, the 65 m St Michael's tower you can climb, the KOERS cycling museum and the Rodenbach brewery on the edge of town. Trains run at least hourly to Bruges (30 min) and Kortrijk (20 min), so most travellers see it in half a day and sleep in Bruges or Ghent.

The centre is walkable: station to Grote Markt is about 8–10 min on foot. De Lijn buses leave from the station forecourt for Diksmuide, Kortrijk and Ypres. For Rumbeke Castle or MUZE'UM L, take a local bus or a taxi; a bike is the fastest option in dry weather.
