Fier is a flat market and oil town on the SH4 between Tirana and Vlorë, and almost nothing in the city itself justifies a night. What does justify the stop is Apollonia, the Greek-Illyrian-Roman site 12 km away, plus Ardenica Monastery and the Bylis park further out. Most travellers pass through on the Tirana–Vlorë or Berat–Vlorë bus and get off for half a day, not a stay.

Getting around
The centre is small enough to walk in 15 minutes. City buses cost 30–40 lek and suburban ones 80–100 lek (2023 fares), but routes and posted timetables are unreliable. For Apollonia you need the bus toward Pojan, then a walk or a taxi. A car or a rented bike is the practical way to reach Apollonia, Ardenica and Bylis in one day.
