Guarapari is Espírito Santo's beach-resort town, about 53 km south of Vitória on the Rodovia do Sol, and the default summer escape for travellers from Minas Gerais and the Vitória metro area. The draw is sand and warm shallow water, not sightseeing: Praia do Morro, Meaípe and the Areia Preta strip. Two or three nights covers it; the town multiplies in population between Christmas and Carnaval, when prices and traffic peak.
