Guarapari
Go for 2–3 nights if you want a beach base on the Espírito Santo coast; skip if you want colonial towns or surf-sized waves — this is a family beach town.
Guarapari is Espírito Santo's beach-resort town, about 53 km south of Vitória on the Rodovia do Sol, and the default summer escape for travellers from Minas Gerais and the Vitória metro area. The draw is sand and warm shallow water, not sightseeing: Praia do Morro, Meaípe and the Areia Preta strip. Two or three nights covers it; the town multiplies in population between Christmas and Carnaval, when prices and traffic peak.

- Peak season (Christmas to Carnaval) doubles the population: book beds and expect slow traffic.
- Sea conditions vary by beach and day: check locally before swimming, and keep clear of jet-ski lanes.
Beach-resort crime is mostly opportunistic: keep phones and bags out of sight on the sand, avoid unlit stretches at night, and use the fixed taxi table rather than arguing a fare.
