Chelsea is a small Washtenaw County town, about 15 miles west of Ann Arbor on I-94, known for the Jiffy Mix factory that rises over Main Street and for the Purple Rose Theatre, founded by actor Jeff Daniels. Downtown is walkable in under an hour; the draw is a show, a meal and a slow morning, not a checklist of sights. Most travellers see it as a half-day or one-night stop between Ann Arbor and Jackson, or as a base for the Waterloo recreation area.

Downtown is walkable end to end in about 15 minutes. For anything beyond it you need a car: I-94 runs along the south edge of town, and Ann Arbor is about 20 min east. WAVE runs door-to-door rides within Chelsea, Dexter and north Ann Arbor, roughly $3–4 a trip (check current fares and hours); it is an on-demand service, not a fixed-route bus.
