Łeba

Spend one full day in Łeba: morning at the Słowiński National Park dunes, afternoon on the beach. Two nights if you want to relax or add a day trip to Hel or Jastrzębia Góra.

Łeba is a Baltic resort on the edge of Słowiński National Park, home to Europe's largest moving sand dunes. The town itself is a compact strip of guesthouses, bars and beach gear rentals. Most visitors come for the dunes and a swim, then move on. One night is enough for the main sights; two if you want to windsurf, ride horses or explore the nearby Kashubian coast.

Rules in force · 8Non-EU visitors get 90 days in any rolling 180-day window…
  • Europe ↗Non-EU visitors get 90 days in any rolling 180-day window, counted across all 29 Schengen states together — not per country; the Entry/Exit System now logs each crossing, so an overstay is detected automatically.
  • Europe ↗On the first Schengen entry since EES began, non-EU travellers give four fingerprints and a face photo at the border instead of a passport stamp; there is nothing to apply for or pay in advance.
  • Central Europe ↗Six of the nine countries here — Austria, Switzerland, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia — charge a time-based motorway vignette, mostly digital and linked to the number plate; buy it before the first motorway past the border, because cameras, not toll booths, do the checking.
  • Central Europe ↗Temporary police checks at internal Schengen borders are common in this region in 2026 (Germany, Austria, Poland, Slovenia among others — check): keep your passport on you on every cross-border train, bus and road even though there is no fixed control post.
  • Poland ↗Poland is in the EU and the Schengen area: check entry rules, the EU Entry/Exit System and any travel authorisation requirement for your passport on official sources.
  • Poland ↗The currency is the Polish złoty (PLN), not the euro: decline dynamic currency conversion.
  • Poland ↗Most shops close on most Sundays under the trading law; small convenience stores and station shops are the exception.
  • Poland ↗The border areas with Belarus and Russia's Kaliningrad region have restricted zones; follow your own government's advice before travelling near them.

Watch out

Safety

Łeba is a safe resort town. The main risks are sunburn, dehydration on the dune walk and strong currents in the Baltic: swim only at lifeguarded beaches.
  • The dunes are a 45-minute walk from the park entrance or a boat ride; bring water and sun protection.
  • Sand gets into everything: seal your phone and camera in a bag.
  • Most restaurants and shops close by 22:00; late eaters should check opening hours.
  • Check the official park website for dune access: strong wind can close the trail.
