Kanbula坎布拉
Kanbula is a one-night stop if you want to hike Kanbula National Park at dawn; otherwise skip it and day-trip from Xining (2.5 h each way).
Kanbula is a tiny town at the east entrance of Kanbula National Park, 7 km from the park gate. The town itself has little to see — one main street, a few hotels and Muslim restaurants. The reason to come is the park: red sandstone cliffs, the Yellow River reservoir and hiking. Most travellers use it as a base for an early park entry or get stranded here because bus schedules are unclear.

- China ↗Google, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and many news sites are blocked. Use an eSIM with roaming (it routes through your home network) or install and test a VPN before you fly; VPN sites and app stores are hard to reach inside China, and only government-approved VPNs are officially permitted.
