Yaroslavl is the second city of Central Russia and the classic Golden Ring stop, 266 km from Moscow on the M-8. Its 1000-year-old centre sits at the Volga-Kotorosl confluence and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Most travellers come from Moscow by train for a day or a weekend, often pairing it with Rostov Veliky.
