Sleep in Recoleta or Palermo for 3–4 nights; do the barrios on foot in the morning, and add Colonia (Uruguay) or the Tigre delta as a day trip from the same bed.
Rules in force · 3
- Argentina ↗Check entry rules for your passport with Argentina's National Migration Directorate (Migraciones) or an Argentine consulate before booking.
- Argentina ↗Exchange rules and the gap between card and cash rates have changed repeatedly: check current advice before deciding whether to bring US dollars or rely on cards.
- Argentina ↗Patagonia (El Calafate, El Chaltén, Ushuaia) is a November–March trip; in winter many services close and hiking is limited.
Buenos Aires is one base and a few excursions. The barrios are close, the ferries to Colonia leave from the port, and moving hotels wastes the mornings; keep one bed, carry a small bag on the day trips, and be back for a late dinner.
Where to sleep
Recoleta for a calm base, Palermo for nightlife, San Telmo for cobbles.
Boat trips and markets; about an hour by train or car.
Ferry from the port; a border crossing, so carry your passport.
Night sequences
- 4 nights
- Buenos Aires 4, one day trip
- 6 nights
- Buenos Aires 4 + Tigre or Colonia as day trips
- Buenos Aires + Colonia + Tigre in 3 days is mostly transfers.
