Springhill is a small Nova Scotia coal town (about 2,700 people) on Highway 2, 20 km south of Amherst and 50 km northeast of Parrsboro. Its two sights are the mine tour at the Springhill Miners' Museum and the Anne Murray Centre on Main Street. Both are seasonal, so check dates before you drive. There is no hotel in town: base in Amherst or Parrsboro and visit as a half-day.

Getting around
You need a car. Springhill sits on Highway 2, linked to the Trans-Canada Highway (104) by Highway 142 at exit 5. The Anne Murray Centre and the miners' monument are on Main Street and walkable from each other; the Miners' Museum is a short drive out on Black River Road. VIA Rail's The Ocean stops at Springhill Junction, 6 km northwest on Highway 2, on request only, about three times a week each way.
