Use Malbazar as a base for Dooars wildlife and hill villages: 2–3 nights, not a day trip from Siliguri.
Malbazar is a small market town that grew around tea gardens and post-independence settlement. It has no major sights of its own, but its location makes it the most practical base for Gorumara National Park, Chapramari Wildlife Reserve and the hill villages of Jhalong, Bindu, Samsing and Suntalekhola. Most travellers stay 2–3 nights and use a hired car or shared jeep to reach the parks and villages.
