Tuktoyaktuk (Tuk) is an Inuvialuit hamlet of about 900 people on the Arctic Ocean, and the only community in Canada on that coast reachable by road. The 138 km gravel Highway 10 from Inuvik takes about 3 hours. There is no hotel and no scheduled air service, so you come by car or not at all. One night covers the pingos, The Point and the shore.

Getting around
The hamlet is small enough to walk end to end in about 20 minutes. Snowmobiles are common in winter. A taxi turns up sometimes; charter vans run to the airport and out on the land. For the pingos, 5 km west, you need your own vehicle, a kayak or a guided trip.
