Yining is a small multi‑ethnic border town in Xinjiang’s Ili River Valley. Its sights cluster near the centre, so a short stay (1–2 days) covers the museum, folk village, market and a river‑front walk. Transport is easy by taxi or local bus, and budget hotels are within walking distance of the railway station.
