Spennymoor is a former coal town in County Durham, about 11 km (7 miles) from Durham city, with a population around 22,000. It has one large Victorian park, a leisure centre, a National League North football club and a working amateur theatre, but no hotel cluster and no rail station. Almost everyone who comes here does it as a short trip out of Durham, Bishop Auckland or Darlington, or comes for a match at the Brewery Field.
