Peratallada is a fortified medieval village of carved stone, 22 km east of Girona and about 20 minutes from the Costa Brava beaches. Two hours cover the lanes, castle exterior, walls and moat; one night lets you see it after the day visitors leave. It is a base for the Empordà plain, not a beach town.

Three car parks sit outside the walls (GI-651, Carrer de la Bisbal, Carrer de Sant Feliu de Boada); the nearest railway station is Flaçà, 19 km away, and buses run to Palafrugell.
