Nassau is a small Lahn valley town of about 4,700 people, known because its castle gave the House of Nassau its name — and through that dynasty the Bahamian capital. The sights are two castles, a château and the river, all within a 20-minute walk of the station. It is a half-day stop on the Koblenz–Limburg line, not a base.

Getting around
The town is walkable end to end in about 20 minutes. Regional trains on the Lahn valley line stop at Nassau station, south of the centre; Koblenz and Limburg an der Lahn are the two hubs. Buses are sparse — check timetables before relying on them. A car helps for the side valleys and vineyards.

Safety
- Regional trains run roughly hourly and thin out in the evening; check the last connection back to your base.
- Burg Nassau is a ruin on a steep path about 120 m above the river: wear shoes with grip and skip it in ice.
- Village restaurants and the castle tavern keep limited, seasonal hours — check before you count on a meal.
- Card payment is not universal in small Lahn valley businesses; carry some cash.
